In the beginning of my ministry as pastor of Glasgow Baptist Church, the Lord renewed for me the promise of Psalm 1:3, “He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.” This promise of a useful life follows a reminder that we must be in fellowship with God and His people and rooted in God’s word. God can use our church to help all who will come find the fulfillment of Psalm 1:3. We encourage you to Believe the Lord…Grow in his word …Tell the world about Jesus…Serve others in His name.

Bill D. Whittaker is a native of Bowling Green, KY. In 1962 while preparing to be a civil engineer at Western KY University, God called him into the ministry. That call was prepared by the faithful witness of five sisters, the Bible preaching of his pastor, the teaching and witness of church members, and the confirmation from Scripture and the Holy Spirit.
After graduation from WKU, Bill completed Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry Degrees at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville. He later secured a MA with an emphasis in writing from Union College, Barbourville, KY.
Dr. Whittaker has served as pastor of three Kentucky churches: Jackson Grove, Bowling Green; First Baptist, Sturgis; First Baptist, Murray. In 1980-81 he was president of the Kentucky Baptist Convention, the fellowship of 2,500 Baptist churches in Kentucky. He and his wife served four years as appointed missionaries of the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board (Now International Mission Board); they served as pastor and wife of the International Baptist Church, Manila, Philippines. Rebecca, who holds a MA in Early Childhood Education from Murray State University, was director of the IBC Child Care. From 1986-88, Whittaker was pastor of Downtown Baptist Church, Orlando, FL.
After 19 years as president of Clear Creek Baptist Bible College, Pineville, KY, Bill assumed the pastorate of Glasgow Baptist Church in 2007. He and Rebecca have a son, two daughters, and nine grandchildren. Bill enjoys writing, reading history and mysteries, traveling with Rebecca, and a 1964 Chevrolet SS convertible. They are also UK fans.

Ken has adopted the Apostle Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians (3:14-21) as his prayer for himself, his family and friends, and for the believers at Glasgow Baptist and beyond. The key verses say, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21 NIV). Coaching and encouraging Christ-followers to use their gifts in service to the Lord is a joy for Ken. He takes pleasure, too, in creating worship opportunities that bring the generations together.
Raised in an Air Force family, Ken lived in many places including California, Maryland, Spain, Maine, Georgia, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. Christ Jesus became the Lord of Ken when Ken was 17. He graduated from high school near Dayton, Ohio. Ken was a part-time music minister from the age of 19, while he pursued a degree at Purdue University and worked in retail management. After agreeing with God about his life’s work, he began training for ministry at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and graduated with a Masters in Church Music. Ken served at churches in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky, and came to GBC from Morganfield, Kentucky in April of 2009.
Ken and his wife, Joyce, married in Morganfield in 1999. The Brown’s like traveling together, spending time with their eight nieces and nephews, and trying new recipes. Joyce is an avid reader and loves ministry with children. Ken especially enjoys eating ethnic foods and watching college basketball, especially Purdue and U.K.
